Michæl Blacke? BEST NAME EVER I like the E at the end of Blacke, but the "æ" just looks strange to me.

It's how I write my name anytime now. I just connect the "ae" and since it's a real character... I forget how the pronounciation of it is though... I hope it sounds like "uuh", lol

MB alters sound, extrapolates from last album
-MB, who has decided to go by the new recording name Michæl Blacke for his upcoming album "Sneakers On A Telephone Wire", says the record is taking shape enough for him to be able to determine what the album as a whole will be like. He says while he's not finished recording songs, nor does he have a track listing finalized, he does have most of the tracks recorded and says the type of album it is, it could go four or five singles deep right away. "I think it's very radio friendly," he says in a recent interview to promote the album to the industry. "I think the album extrapolates a lot from the last track from One Way Undone." He is referring to the song 'The End Of Olde Time', which he said was a song that looked toward the future and the uncertainly of it but that everything will be okay. MB says a track on the new record compares life 15 years ago and how you imagined back then what life would be like in 15 years and how today you imagine what life will be like in 15 years from now. The uncertainties expressed in this track he says aren't as positive however as he states you don't know whether you'll be successful or working at a dead end job by then. Another song has the potential to be controversial. "It depends on how people take it. I actually am meeting my music advisor later this week to determine whether I should even include it on the album. It may offend some religious groups." But MB adds the song isn't meant to be offensive. It's about how people justify helping the world's problems by praying but not really actively doing anything else and in a sense, the tongue-in-cheek song protrays it in an almost hypocritical way. The album, as a whole, is definately much more upbeat and, despite some underlying themes of dispair and critique of social issues, has a better outlook on life in general. He also says musically it is the best he's done. "When listening to these songs, you'd think I actually knew how to play the piano. The songs all have piano hooks to them that can actually work well on their own or, in this case, as the backdrop to the lyrics. About half of the tracks even have full instrumental sections, which I'm very proud of." This record will be MB's fourth album following two earlier in the decade and his most recent disc 'One Way Undone', released in May of last year. "I listen to One Way Undone once in a while and even though at the time, I thought it was a great piece of work. Listening to it now, there are a few songs on it that I think definately need fixing up and even possibly a tracklisting altering. Of course not to the extent that I would redo Anonymous." MB has been known to have issues after the recording of his second album in which there are three or four tracks that he doesn't like anymore. Something that, he says, happens after you'd had time to fully digest a record. "I think in a few years, I'll probably hate half of One Way Undone. But right now, I think Sneakers is a very consistant CD that has like four or five obvious potential singles." In reference to his growing production skills, he says "right now I can hear so many production imperfections in the recording process compared to the newer songs. And at the time, I heard so many imperfections to Anonymous," the previous album to that, released in 2002. "So it's like with each record, I'm taking a big step from the last one in terms of the music aspect and the actual production aspect. So while I might think this new album is great production-wise, I may look back on it in 2009 and hear lots of mistakes in the sound. Hearing them today though, I can completely see how I've improved on the process of making music even from as recently as a year ago."

A news short from FMQB.com (pretend version! LMAO!)
Album Promo Pauses:
Michæl Blacke has recently experienced a minor setback in the midst of recording his upcoming album, due out in August. He is still sticking with the approximate release time frame for now but says it may get pushed back to early September. The album's first single 'Time', however, is rising quickly on the charts and is en route to becoming one of his biggest hits. Blacke says that direct promo for that single, which was released two weeks ago, will begin soon.

Shame to see the album will be pushed back But hopefully "Time" will do well enough that you won't need a second single before the album drops

With recent news on the upcoming michael blacke (aka mb) album being on a considerable download, the cover to the upcoming disc as well as a release date was revealed earlier today. "Sneakers on a Telephone Wire" will see an August 28th, 2007 release date. The album, which features the first single "Time", is said to be more upbeat and taking on less-personal yet more positive themes than its predecessor (2006's "One Way Undone"). The single "Time" has already made it to the Top 10 on FreakyFlyBry's Top 100 countdown, marking his first Top 10 appearance on that chart, while making visable appearances on other charts as well including Crunkie's Top 15 and Jessica's Top 40. It's also presently at #103 on the Globalchart (which also puts it #2 New & Active). The album was announced to face a tentative delay of its release early in July but with the release date now known, it is only two weeks later than the original planned date. Also tentative thus far, is the album's tracklisting, which looks to contain ten tracks. Less than the desired result set upon by Blacke, who has his reasons for the change in plans regarding the disc. michael blacke | sneakers on a telephone wire1. stand under this 2. time 3. trighway 4. here is where i stand 5. has anything changed anymore 6. one true thing 7. we're not seen 8. i'll pray for you 9. hiding 10. stay for you The album track "One True Thing" was recently uploaded to Blacke's myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/mbmbmb) and the album closer "Stay For You" was a b-side to last year's hit "Julien". The song served as a starting point, according to Blacke, for the new direction he wanted to take for the new record. As a result, the song was re-recorded and included onto this album.

It was rumoured that the album was going to come with a special bonus mini-CD featuring a few bonus songs. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but considering the album is out this Tuesday, chances are it won't be. Some speculatory tracks would have been: Time [Acoustic Version] Best Friend [featuring Rob64] A live demo version of 'One True Thing'
MB's albums usually come with some enhanced features as well but again, there has been no information regarding this so it's looking like this album might just be straight up normal CD with nothing extra. However, the listing price on a lot of sites (LOL!) is $8.99 CDN, which is lower than most new releases! There's also word of the second single being out in mid-September to coincide with an online event but nothing confirmed on that either.
Lots of speculation. All that is known for sure is that this Tuesday, the album will be out! Also, the website will be revamped as well!

The album's second single looks to be in a bit of a tiffie as 'Stand Under This' has been getting just mixed reviews during the testing process. The Max Records, however, is looking to switch things up as word that the track may be getting canceled as single #2 seems to be all but confirmed. Official word on what the second single is should be revealed within a few days with the song released before the end of the month.
