I think I like the first disc more so than the 2nd disc.

I just finished both CD's and they're both really amazing. I actually like CD2 better than CD1 overall. I think "Casey" should be released as the third single. Obviously, it needs a trim for radio, but I think it would fit perfectly with the AC formats. Oh, and "Bombs Up In My Face" is probably THE oddest song I've ever heard production and vocalwise.

The Canadian release ended up being pushed back to October 9 - but I finally have it! And it's keeping me company these days on my way to and from work...
The CD is so comprehensive in its many thoughts that I will probably have a lot more to say about it in time. I'm really enjoying it - adjectives that come to mind include: Thoughtful, personal, fun, intriguing... quite a mix of dynamic, almost over-the-top production, and softer, lyrical moments. Oh, and the time machine sub-plot has me hooked, but I can't quite figure out how it all ends (if in fact it ends).
Like Kworb, I'm going to classify the songs for your reference:
Must Hear Waking The Monster How To Build A Time Machine - This song is one of the few songs on the planet that has an emotional 'There's no place like home' sentiment for me. It continues to make my eyes well up each time. Step Into The Light - I'm hoping they go back and make this an official single... Sing To Me The Future Holds A Lion's Heart -For some reason, I'd love to hear Meat Loaf do a cover! Neverland -Playfully creepy. Maybe Me, Myself And (I)
Splendid! A Fear Of Falling Under Who Would Have Thought Casey A Conversation With God Listen All You People The Great Big Disconnet On The Verge Of Something Wonderful Lucky Town I Just Want You To Love Me
Good The Sun Is Always Blinding Me The Only One A Hundred Challenging Things A Boy Can Do Words The Tuning Of Violins Walk Away
Good But Qualified Bombs Up In My Face Setting Sun These are very inspired experiments, and among 25 tracks, they still fit well with the flow of the record. But they are not for everyone.
After "Me, Myself And (I)", the next single could be a softer track like "Maybe", or "I Just Want You To Love Me". I'd love to hear radio play "How To Build A Time Machine" but I can't see them allowing a 6 minute song its full due (and it would be wrecked if edited).
All in all, do check out the CD. It's full of some of Darren's finest vocals and lyrics, and wonderful, retro-style production.
