This weeks new cd/album buys:
(7/22) Window Dressing - The Tiles bought cause i liked the cover......came with a free live cd...different, but not for me.
Country Man - Willie Nelson Not his best, but not the worst either...a couple of good songs. its a short a very distance between texas, nashville & jamacia musically.....a keeper.
Different Strokes by Different Folks - Sly & The Family Stone (with guests) the originals were good 3 minute catchy melodies. a few of these are now too long, and quickly become boring. Maroon 5's joining in on Everyday People is the highlight. Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) does nothing for "Higher".
(7/24) Outlaw - Alabama3 (UK import) Hmmm.....each cd has taken a couple of listens to enjoy, and so far this ones no different... (7/25) Bebel Gilberto - Heard one song...what a voice, and bought them all:
Bebel Gilberto Bebel Gilberto Remixed Tanto Tempo Tanto Tempo Remixed
(7/26)
Street Signs Ozomatli (used cd).... liked a couple of songs.......maybe it will grow on me (7/28) another day (thursday) another cd (or 2): Mylene Farmer - Avant que l'ombre Simon & Garfunkle - Old Friends (live+dvd)

This weeks CD buys: (a couple (*) of them were promos from a radio station i was working on a TV ad with) [Artist - Album] Shannon McNally - Geronimo* A Melissa Ethridge meets Michele Branch sound. (B-)
The Flying Other Brothers - SF Sound* The Starship/Airplane sound. (D+)
Steepwater Band - dharmakaya* Very Kings of Leon sounding (F)
K's Choice - 10 A 2004 release (C+)
Spookie Daly Pride - Medicine Chest Heavly influenced by the song writing styles of Randy Newman and Warren Zevon, when it's good & funny, its verry good, but when the humor dont work, the song falls on its face. (C+)
Joshua Davis - Fool Rooster New Orleans meets Memphis meets Detroit. Could have been recorded anytime in the last 40 years. Great!!!(A)
Bering Strait - Pages Sounding less Russian Bluegrass and more California Folk Rock (fleetwood macish) (B-)
Praful - One Deep Love (2001 release) Melodic Jazz/Trance (C-)
Oasis - Dont Believe the Truth Familiar sound. No new ground covered. (C+)
Al Kooper - Black Coffee One of the Few Musicians that I've held in high respect for the last 40 years. A nice guy who loves music. (I met him in 1971, and he remember me in 1991.....and again last year) . But he has never had a album that i've like from the first cut to the last (and i've told him so - like he would care) But when the songs are good....they are great. Its just the other ones that are hard to not skip over. (doesnt easily fit in any musical genre at any given time...soulful rock with blues and bluegrass influences) He's played Keyboards on Hendrix & Dylan albums, discovered Lynryd Skynard, produced the Tubes and Eddie & The Hot Rods, Taught at hte berklee school of music.......(C+)
