Disappointment as in you expected the songs to be better or you liked the song but expected them to chart better? In Angel's case, I expected her to chart better. I personally say it's Rookie Of The Year imo.

There were many for me this year. I'll just name a few. Brandy - Afrodisiac. This was a fabulous CD. However, it was completely underrated, and was ultimately a flop. Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up.Quite possibly their very best single. And yet it did the worst, to say the least. Janet Jackson Vs. America.Okay, so she had a nipple-slip. Who cares?! Big deal. Geez. Liz Phair - Extraordinary.Fabulous song. Horrible chart run. Brooke Hogan. Her infectious single, "Everything To Me", did nothing on the charts. Brooke had a lot of potential, but no one knows at all now, because her label sucks, and her CD was never heard of. She could've been the Britney (minus like...90% of the sluttiness) of 2004. Bad! Janet Jackson - Damita Jo.Terrible CD. Yuck. It'd probably be better if all those stupid intros weren't in the CD. But that probably wouldn't salvage it either. Sarah Hudson.Very talented young singer, the cousin of Kate Hudson. She deserved success, but got none. *shakes head* Ryan Cabrera's album sales. For such a good CD, it sure did not sell. Dido.America slept on this gem. Ugh. Kelis - Trick Me.Great song. No success in America. Nelly Furtado.Flop in America. Which sucks, Nelly is very talented, and she got done dirty. Jive releasing "Outrageous" as the 4th single from "In The Zone".Everyone smelled that flop from a mile away. They could've picked another song and had Britney leave on a high note, but they didn't. Fools. There are many more, but they don't need to be mentioned right now. Except for one more. THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF 2004 WAS:GEORGE BUSH WINNING THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.How could anyone vote for this idiot? Everyone who voted Bush is really stupid, IMO. Bush and Co. have turned America upside down over the past four years, and yet these fools voted for him. It's beyond my comprehension why he would get any votes. I'm still terribly upset by this. And...that's all.

I have two disappointment in singles, one very obvious And one all around disappointment
Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman Okay, so "Slow" kinda surprised people and went to #33. Then, Kylie released "Red Blooded Woman" and many people were predicting that this could be that next big hit after CGYOOMH, and failed, miserably. The urban beats and catchy lyrics just didnt catch on for some strange reason. A fantastic comeback song for the US for Kylie, and flopped miserably peaking at #55 on Pop. [however, went to #1 on Dance.]
Nelly Furtado - Try A great song that actually did get decent airplay on VH1, but never caught on to Pop. One of my personal favorites from Nelly.
Anastacia HOW CAN PEOPLE FORGET? Possibly, THE most overlooked artist in America! I dont care what ANYONE says, this girl has TALENT. The album, and the first two singles "Left Outside Alone" and "Sick And Tired" were MASSIVE throughout the world. "Left Outside Alone" was released commerically in the US and to Pop, and failed to succeed on the chart. Anastacia the album was never released, and still, says 'Coming Soon' on her website.

If I had to grade the year in music as far as the mainstream aspects go, I'd give it an F-
There were some highlights and some good songs did get much deserved time on the radio and TV. However, there was a LOT of great tunes that got shafted. Brooke Hogan, Angel, Alanis, Ryan are just some names that come to mind but there are hundererds more. I'm so happy that this place exists where we can discuss the music that should be played, but isn't! The music industry has been on a downward spiral over the past years, and soon its going to be in a hole that can't be dug out of.

If I had to grade the year in music as far as the mainstream aspects go, I'd give it an F- AGREED! Every time I turn on the radio, what plays? RAP! Eamon and Frankee being able to get played on radio. AGREED AGAIN! Why do we want to hear "f**k you" and "f**k whatever" on the radio?! Disgusting!

I'd rate the year in music radio-pop-wise a C+. 2003 would probably have received a C so it's on an upwards trend right now.

2004 had many dissappointments here is 10 disappointments that i think are worth mentioning: 1. jojo the 13 year old singing about a serious boyfriend and telling him to get out of her house?? (not a bad song at all but it says alot for the younger generation) 2. jessica simpson singing too many cover songs, is it just me or has everyone had enough of this blonde bimbo?? 3. usher dancing around in ALL his film clips to show off his body, fair enough you have it show it, but my god in every single video!!!!!!!!! guys don't want to see a guy that loves himself flaunting his 6 pack. shame really because he had some good songs but the videos left alot to be desired. 4. idol dominating the charts, i have no problem with this show and quite think alot of them are talented but it annoys the hell out of me when not only the winner gets a contract, but so does the runner up, and the 3rd place getter aswell as the person who gets 4th & 5th & 6th and of course the bloody stupid unforgetables!!!!!!!!! (well that was the case with the australian charts) and then on top of that we get all the other idols such as the american idols, the british idols and the winner from the world idol competition. WAY TOO MUCH IDOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5. ja rule singing another song with ashanti, i swear i can't tell the differences in his songs. he should find someone else to sing with him. 6. christina singing pretty ordinary duets. ok i admit i quite like her music but her last 2 releases have been poor (in my opinion anyways). 7. single sales to eamon, usher and britney being stopped!!!!!!!! this is a joke, these songs should be the biggest for 2004 but no they stop them so the idols can all have a #1 song!!!!!!! how shocking is that? 8. eamon's follow up song, poor effort mate! 9. that comeback song to mario winans one!!!!!!! ok frankee made a come back song to eamon and it was a laugh, but that was short lived. i see that song did very well around the world? 10. 50 cent didn't realise any thing worth while.

Eamon - Cancelling the release of "My Baby's Lost" in the US was such a big mistake for him... the song had alot of potential.
The other big disappointment was the lack of a "pure" pop sound from *NSYNC, Christina, the Backstreet Boys, and others... hopefully, we'll see a return from these groups in 2005.

10 Disappointments of 2004
Usher: 8701 spawned 2 top 10's on my chart, but this album is nothing but hype. Nothing from the album is worth much. (Burn is mediocre at best). And he RUINED If I Ain't Got You!
Random Rapper: How many different versions of "I want to shove my dick up yo ass" do we need? And why is radio even playing this garbage? I once tolerated rap, but it's at the point now where's it's beyond redemption.
Celine Dion: You And I was made for pop radio, buy Sony wouldn't even give a 2nd thought to releasing it to the format, and gave even less of a thought about promoting the song at all on any format.
Eamon & Frankee This has got to be without a doubt the stupidest thing to ever happen in radio ever! What is the whole f*cking point of overplaying a song that has half of the words bleeped? Not only that, we're dealing with a 19 year-old who sounds like a little kid throwing a tantrum because they didn't get a cookie. And how do we top that? By getting some random female to act like his girlfriend to make a response to it (and it turned out Eamon co-wrote the response!) Why this shit made the top 10,000 is beyond me!
Anastacia: What is the problem? She has got the package for a star! What's wrong, does she not show her boobs enough? Does she not talk about getting f*cked in the ass enough? What's the purpose of not playing her, othern than skipping over great hit potential?
Vanessa Carlton: She appears to be suffering from the Sophomore Slump. White Houses was a mediocre hit, and still heard nothing about the 2nd single. Hopefully she can rebound.
Ciara: OK, just because you can sing in 2 notes, doesn't make you a good singer. Other than using random rappers, what's her appeal? She is so monotone and bland, I just don't understand what the point is.
William Hung: Do I need to go any further?
Lil' Jon: How can anyone stand to listen to him scream without having to turn off the player, leave the room, or cut off their ears?
Kylie Minogue: Body Language was a big step down for her compared to Fever. She also seems to have gone in slump mode. What's saving her butt in my book is that I Believe in You is good.

Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up.Quite possibly their very best single. And yet it did the worst, to say the least. this isn't particularly true. this has been their 2nd best single in australia. where is the love? has done the best and sold the most. as catchy as all their songs are, 'shut up' has been one of their best singles in the land down under. it got #1 on the australian charts for 3 weeks. maybe 'shut up' didn't do all that well in america but it kicked butt in australia. it also was in the top 20 for the 2003 and 2004 year end charts. #19 in 2003 #9 in 2004 so once again 'shut up' quite possibly is one of their best singles. just thought i'd mention that. now i think i better shut up!

And he RUINED If I Ain't Got You! Yes!!! I loved the version with Alicia by herself, but hated the version with Usher. His voice annoyed me. D-Kid - very unhappy customer. goodie - I'm talking in reference to the US, which virtually ignored "Shut Up".

Britney Spears - In The Zone Unless your saying that you were disappointed in the actual music on the CD, i think In The Zone did a fantastic job of bringing Britney back to the charts. Before ITZ she was going through a major drought. All of the Britney singles flopped, as well as the final few from Oops. "Toxic" went straight to #1 and "Everytime" shot up all the way up to #4. ITZ also has some of the best fan-favorite album tracks.
