...if they were realeased as a single.
Many of us think that sometimes the choices for a single are not as good as they should be... here are mine:
- R.E.M. - I've Been High This one is one of the best songs they have ever made, but it was never released as a single. This songs could have relaunch their career to the level of "Automatic For The People".
- Live - Pillar Of Davidson Maybe it wasn't on the right album. "Throwing Cooper" had many hits, so this song was never released, but I see it ten million times better than "Lightning Crashes".
- Greenwheel - Dim Halo Who are greenwheel? many of you are thinking that... this band was out 3 years ago and had a minor hit at the radio with "Breath". But this song as the style of Matchbox twenty, but a bit harder could have launch them to the top of the airplay list of all the United States... a shame it was never released.
NOTE: I don't know if this is the right place to post to, If not, move it wherever it may be

Great idea! I'll see if I can come up with a handful of my favourites - there are so many songs that I think radio should have played, I can't even begin to count them...

At the moment, I can only think of Michelle Branch - Find Your Way Back.
This one could still happen, but I doubt it will... Duran Duran - Bedroom Toys

I agree with REM and Live. And I want to add: Tori Amos - Juárez: I think this would have introduced her to a somewhat different market. The loud sound and the electronic vibe of the song would have been perfect for some radio formats, even if outside pop. I can also see this song being remixed. Semisonic - Act naturally: This song screams "Airplay", a great ballad that could have helped them to stay on the radio for a few more months. Kate Bush - Leave it open: If critics were already saying that "The Dreaming" was an extremely experimental album, why not release one of the strangest songs to radio? maybe it wouldn't have been successful, but it would have shown her most risky side. Dave Matthews - Stay or leave: This song, while different from "Crash into me", it has the same feel, it could have propelled his solo career a lot more than the released singles "Save me" and "Oh". Dave needed desperately to release this one and the reason it was forgotten still bothers me from time to time. I might come back to this thread to add more songs

And about "The waitress", I think it could have done well if it were released in a live format (in the same style as in TVAB) but shortened. The studio version, I think is not too appealing, but that's MY opinion, it could have been a hit

I guess you learn something new everyday. And about "The waitress", I think it could have done well if it were released in a live format (in the same style as in TVAB) but shortened. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven - This is the most obvious choice in the history of rock music. As it is, it is one of the most well known rock songs in the history of rock music, but Led Zeppelin decided not to release it as a single. This decision probably lead to huge sales of Led Zeppelin IV, because those who wanted to buy the single had buy the album to get it.

Good topic! I think if Celine Dion's I Surrender had been released, it would've won the token ballad award and would've been a top 10 hit. There's still a chance, but I think Simple Plan could score a hit if "Everytime" is released. Instead of releasing Slam Dunk Da Funk, Five should've released When I Remember When. Avril Lavigne - Anything But Ordinary instead of Losing Grip Jessica Simpson & Marc Anthony - There You Were

I guess you learn something new everyday. I have to agree that Acquiesce would have been a huge single, especially in England, back in the mid 1990's if it was released. Actually, I do not believe Acquiesce was actually a single. It was a B-side to the Morning Glory single "Some Might Say", and I believe a video was shot for it for Oasis' promotion of their album "The Masterplan", which is a collection of Oasis B-sides. I do not think it was actually released as a single in conjunction with "The Masterplan".

Well, I saw the video frequently on mtv, I know it was on The masterplan, so I don't think mtv would have played a video that was not supposed to be seen by the public. However, if you mean that a physical single was released, that much I don't know, but lots of artists release radio singles and that doesn't stop us from calling them singles, if that were the case, then Tori Amos has not released anything from this new album.
