Was that Milli or Vanilli? Sorry, not funny considering the previous two threads which were trying to be informative.

Supposedly what happened is that Milli Vanilli "insisted" that they be able to sing "for real" on their follow-up record, and the record company couldn't make them back down ... so the record company supposedly PURPROSELY leaked the info to various sources. Any record company that would deliberately sabotage their efforts like that has a place in hell waiting for them. What was the dirty label that they were signed to? And speaking of places in hell, that producer who first convinced them to go along with it, then spilled the beans himself, also has a place in hell waiting for him.

And speaking of places in hell, that producer who first convinced them to go along with it, then spilled the beans himself, also has a place in hell waiting for him. They were on Arista Records. Was it actually the label that leaked the secret about them, though? I remember seeing the VH1 "Behind The Music" special on them several years ago and they basically said that Frank Farian (the producer) was the one who made the decision to expose them as fakes. I mean, I've heard their real voices. Believe me, they weren't star vocalists. But I can't believe they were so bad that if was felt they had to be exposed. Intrestingly enough... This whole thing happened nearly 15 years ago. Nowadays, it's the industry's worst-kept secret that many singers lip-synch and have all kinds of studio enhancements done to their voices...as David mentioned earlier in this thread. Yet these people are some of the industry's biggest stars rather than outcasts like Milli Vanilli became. Just shows you how far the music industry has come in that span of time.

I'm thinking it's because it gradually occurred to where it is today.

i have to agree with Bill on Jessica's response, suicide isn't a thing to make fun of, even if it isn't recent, it's sad that the guy's life was ruined purposely by someone else... just really sad
