Chart Commentary
With a few more contributing charts, the Globalchart is red with bullets this week, even backward bullets... another week, another Timbaland/One Republic week at #1, which could last at least 2 more weeks unless another song busts some kind of big move to the top.
While I still wouldn't rule out Rihanna spending some time at the top with "Don't Stop The Music" (#3), which is still gaining points, the 12-7 move for Jordin Sparks' "Tattoo" is impressive, considering it's in its 19th week on the Globalchart and is only now the Greatest Gainer within the Top 50. She's the 6th AI winner/contestant to have a Globalchart Top 10 hit, following Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, and Kimberley Locke. It could even be Top 5 next week, given the 32 point difference between it and #5 "Clumsy" by Fergie. And Janet Jackson's "Feedback" moves into the Top 10 after 5 weeks (14-10), which bodes well for her upcoming CD Discipline. Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" (17-12) and "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis (15-13) could both be right behind, considering this is another competitive part of the chart - #10-13 are separated by 8 points.
finger eleven's "I'll Keep Your Memory Vague" (36-25) eclipses the peak position of 2004's "One Thing" (which was #27 exactly 4 years ago), while the enduring "Paralyzer" continues to volley in and out of the Top 30 after peaking at #29 a few weeks back. Paramore continues to shine as "Crushcrushcrush" (58-40) overtakes "Misery Business" (53-44) again this week. While "Teardrops On My Guitar" remains at #18, Taylor Swift's "Our Song" follows that song - how should I say it - swiftly, as the Fastest Riser within the Top 50, moving 68-45. Seether's "Fake It" rebounds 62-47, while John Mayer's "Say" lands in the Top 50 (66-50). Australia's The Veronicas soar 91-51 with "Untouched", while Robyn's "Be Mine" (76-52) looks to be the true follow-up to last year's Top Tenner "With Every Heartbeat".
While the second chart of 2008 is loaded with re-entries - now contributors, please make up your mind about what to do with Delta Goodrem's "Believe Again" (back at #72 after tumbling off the chart after 2 weeks) and Linkin Park's "Bleed It Out" (back yet again at #93), and go figure the return of Nicole Scherzinger's "Baby Love" at #91. That leaves four true new entries - "You're The World To Me" by David Gray at #89 (his first Globalchart entry since "Babylon" got to #17 in late 2000!), a second Killers entry, more new Korn, and the aforementioned Nicole accompanying Timbaland and Keri Hilson. The coming weeks should see some significant movement as contributors' charts bid farewell to songs from 2007.
