`` The M4B Rock & Alternative 40 is a genre-specific chart based entirely upon lists and charts provided by the various aforementioned members at the top of the chart. If you are interested in contributing your tastes to the Rock/Alternative 40, feel free to make a list of 10-25 songs of your current rock and alternative favorites and either post them here or PM myself. I voted for my current #1, Who Says. I'm a bit disappointed that Heartbreak Warfare dropped out already though.
And Sam Clark is equal on points in 39th place! Obviously he lost the tiebreaker, but it would have been a very difficult poll if he'd been in there.

WTF how the hell are Orianthi, Vanessa Amorosi and Stan Walker considered rock or alternative? Even John Mayer isn't "rock".
eh, guess I forgot I was on m4b....

Depends how you're defining it. I'd class Vanessa and Orianthi and even Mayer as pop/rock, and personally would leave them in. Stan Walker should go for sure, I didn't notice he was on here before, but he's R&B and not really even close to rock/alt.

AFAIC vanessa and orianthi are as pop as they come. Next you'll be saying pink should be in this chart.
John Mayer is as adult contemporary as Michael Buble. There is nothing "rock" or "alternative" about Who Says.

There is nothing "rock" or "alternative" about Who Says. Regardless of how John Mayer sounds as an artist, I would like to point out that 'Who Says' has done considerably well on the ADULT ROCK radio airplay charts here in the United States and is currently ranking 11th overall on the chart published today. www.americasmusiccharts.com/index.cgi?fmt=R1 It is interesting to note also, that John Mayer also has a top 5 bullet with 'Heartbreak Warfare', another classic "Michael Bublé-ish" track to be sure.

If I'm including Vanessa and Orianthi, I'd also say Pink should be included in the chart. But with all of these artists, it'd be on a song by song basis. A ballad like Shine from Vanessa Amorosi wouldn't be suitable, yet I think Hazardous, with it's rock sound, is. Same with Pink, some songs suit, some don't.

My god. That top 5 is like f*cking amazing (well yeah, 4/5 are in my top 6) - even the Muse song is tolerable!
GREAT to see Evanescence here, obviously I voted them in the poll (yes, even over "Crawl").
---
As far as the genre debate goes, I think if anything it should be on a per song basis. If a metal band releases a trance song, should it be counted on a metal track? Granted, that probably won't ever happen, but you get my drift. I've been wanting to take over the Dance chart but thats exactly why I don't - because I don't know what would be 'eligible' half the time.

Doing a chart with the word ‘alternative’ in the title opens the door to many different styles of music. Although I’d prefer to see more real rock obviously, I totally respect the compiler’s eligibility criteria. He’s doing all the work, after all!

Voted for One Republic.
Interesting discussion, since mine gets included even when I don't Post it here, for this Weeks Chart could you take Stan Walker out of mine please since he is Certainly not Rock.
I Would class Vanessa Amorosi as Pop Rock so there is no reason she can't be Included here.

I definitely think it should go on a song by song basis. Everyone has different definitions of rock and alternative, and generally, I'd leave the judging down to the individual contributor to decide what is and isn't.
I'll get my votes in shortly.

Okay.. This decision is final.
Stan Walker - Black box will be taken out of the spreadsheet and will not be counted on future charts.
As for the other tracks in question, John Mayer - Who Says, & John Mayer - Heartbreak Warfare, are rock, as determined by radio stations and airplay charts here; Vanessa Amorosi - Hazardous, & Orianthi - According to you, are pop-rock and do count, as decided by contributors.
Lastly, Vanessa Amorosi - This Is Who I Am, which falls out of the top 40 anyway, I am classifying as pop and will therefore be taken out of the spreadsheet for future charts. The individual contributor may still include this track on their contribution, but must post their lists here in order for it to be counted.
